Rabbit Anti-Chicken Mannose Binding Lectin (MBL) Polyclonal Antibody
Product Overview
BioVenic rabbit polyclonal antibody is specific for chicken mannose binding lectin. It is purified by protein A. It can be applied to WB, IHC, ICC and IP assays of chicken mannose binding lectin.
Specifications
Target Information
Chicken mannose-binding lectin (MBL) is a 32-kDa calcium-dependent lectin predominantly synthesized in chicken hepatocytes and secreted into plasma, with additional expression in mucosal tissues (e.g., intestinal epithelium, respiratory mucosa). It belongs to the collectin family, forming oligomeric structures that specifically bind mannose and other sugar moieties on the surface of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This binding initiates the lectin complement pathway, mediating opsonization, enhancing phagocytosis by chicken immune cells, and directly neutralizing pathogens-serving as a key component of avian innate immunity. Critical for protecting chicks and adult poultry from microbial infections, it modulates immune homeostasis in the avian circulatory and mucosal systems. As a central innate immune mediator in poultry, chicken MBL is a critical target for studying avian infectious diseases, immune regulation, and veterinary disease prevention strategies.
