Target Information
Mouse tumor protein p63 (TP63) is a 68-kDa transcription factor of the p53 family, predominantly expressed in murine epithelial stem/progenitor cells (skin, mammary gland, respiratory tract). It regulates gene networks controlling epithelial development, cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, while maintaining tissue homeostasis and regenerative capacity. Critical for murine embryonic morphogenesis (e.g., limb, craniofacial development) and epithelial barrier function, it acts as a tumor suppressor in certain tissues. Dysregulated isoform expression associates with epithelial dysplasia, carcinoma (e.g., squamous cell carcinoma), and developmental defects in mouse models. As a key mediator of epithelial biology and cancer progression, mouse TP63 is a critical target for studying epithelial pathobiology, tumorigenesis, and transcription factor-targeted therapeutics.
