Target Information
Rat amyloid beta precursor protein binding protein B3 (APP-BP3) is a 52-kDa cytoplasmic protein predominantly expressed in rat brain (hippocampus, cortex), liver, and kidney. It interacts with amyloid beta precursor protein (APP), regulating APP trafficking, processing, and amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptide generation. Critical for maintaining rat neuronal homeostasis and APP metabolism, it modulates pathways involved in synaptic function and protein degradation. Dysregulated expression associates with Alzheimer's disease-related pathology, neuronal dysfunction, and Aβ aggregation in rat models. As a key mediator of APP processing and Aβ homeostasis, rat APP-BP3 is a critical target for studying neurodegenerative pathobiology and developing therapeutics for Alzheimer's disease.
