Target Information

Mouse interferon regulatory factor 6 (IRF6) is a 53 kDa DNA-binding factor whose N-terminal IAD clamp grips ISRE motifs while a C-terminal proline-rich tail recruits chromatin remodelers, steering epithelial differentiation. A solvent-exposed 18-aa "SKP" loop (aa 180-197) between β-strands 4 and 5 folds into a β-hairpin unique among murine IRF paralogs, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after phosphorylation and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native IRF6 in oral epithelium, palatal shelves, and keratinocyte nuclei, delivering crisp punctate staining and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to IRF3 or IRF7.
