Target Information
Mouse calcium sensing receptor (CaSR) is a 120-kDa G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) predominantly expressed in murine parathyroid glands, kidneys, and gastrointestinal tract. It detects extracellular calcium concentrations, initiating signaling cascades that regulate parathyroid hormone secretion, renal calcium excretion, and intestinal calcium absorption. Critical for maintaining systemic calcium-phosphate homeostasis and bone metabolism in mice, it also modulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and inflammatory responses in diverse tissues. Dysregulated activity associates with hyperparathyroidism, hypocalcemia, and bone disorders. As a key mediator of calcium signaling and metabolic balance, mouse CaSR is a critical target for studying mineral homeostasis, skeletal pathobiology, and GPCR-targeted therapeutics.
