Target Information
Rat cyclophilin 40 (Cyp40) is a cytoplasmic peptidyl-prolyl isomerase that catalyzes cis-trans conversion of proline residues, accelerating protein folding. It targets client proteins via its tetratricopeptide repeat domain, forming complexes with heat-shock proteins and steroid-hormone receptors. Cyp40 is abundant in liver, brain and testis, where it modulates receptor activation and cytoplasmic transport. Its conserved PPIase active site and unique TPR clamp offer a dual epitope for antibody generation, enabling specific detection of Cyp40 without cross-reactivity to other cyclophilin family members.
