Target Information

Mouse PTEN-Induced Putative Kinase 1 (PINK1) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in maintaining mitochondrial function and integrity. It is localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane and plays a crucial role in the regulation of mitochondrial quality control. PINK1 is essential for the recruitment of Parkin, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, to damaged mitochondria, initiating mitophagy and preventing mitochondrial dysfunction. Its activity is critical for cellular health and is implicated in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease. PINK1 is an important target for studying mitochondrial biology and related disorders in mouse models.
