Target Information
Mouse haptoglobin (Hp) is a 85-kDa acute-phase glycoprotein synthesized primarily in the liver. It binds free hemoglobin released from damaged red blood cells, preventing iron-mediated oxidative stress and facilitating hemoglobin clearance via macrophage receptors. Expressed ubiquitously in mouse tissues-with elevated levels in liver, spleen, and inflammatory sites-it regulates iron homeostasis and modulates inflammatory responses. As a key mediator of hemoglobin scavenging and immune regulation, mouse Hp is a critical target for studying hemolytic disorders, oxidative stress-related pathologies, and inflammatory processes.
