Target Information
Rat laminin α1 is a 400 kDa long-arm chain whose N-terminal LN domain and 35 LE repeats self-polymerize, anchoring laminin-111 to nidogen and integrin α6β1 in embryonic basement membranes. A solvent-exposed 18-aa "KVE" loop (aa 1,220-1,237) between LE12 and LE13 folds into a β-hairpin unique among rat laminin α isoforms, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native laminin α1 in renal glomeruli, parietal yolk sac, and sciatic nerve endoneurium, delivering crisp linear staining and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to laminin α2 or α5.
