Target Information

Mouse apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is a 34-kDa glycoprotein primarily synthesized in the liver and brain. It plays a central role in lipid metabolism, mediating cholesterol and triglyceride transport via interactions with low-density lipoprotein receptors. Expressed in astrocytes, microglia, and hepatocytes, ApoE regulates lipid homeostasis and cellular cholesterol efflux. Its three isoforms (ApoE2, ApoE3, ApoE4) exhibit distinct functional properties, with isoform-specific effects on lipid clearance and tissue integrity. As a key mediator of lipid transport and neuroinflammation, mouse ApoE serves as a critical target for investigating lipid-related disorders and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms.
