Target Information

Mouse growth differentiation factor 7 (GDF-7, BMP-12) is a 42 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer whose C-terminal TGF-β knot engages BMPR-II and ALK2/3 to drive tendon and cartilage lineage commitment. A solvent-exposed 14-residue "SKP" loop (aa 95-108) between pre-helix 1 and β2 folds into a β-hairpin unique among mouse GDF/BMP isoforms, presenting a conformational epitope preserved in both pro- and mature forms. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native GDF-7 in embryonic tendons, ligament fibroblasts, and osteoblastic progenitors, delivering crisp extracellular deposition and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to BMP-2 or GDF-5.
