Target Information

Mouse adenosine kinase (ADK) is a 40-kDa cytosolic enzyme ubiquitously expressed in murine tissues, with enriched levels in liver, brain, and kidney. It catalyzes adenosine phosphorylation to AMP, regulating extracellular adenosine concentrations-a key mediator of purinergic signaling. By controlling adenosine bioavailability, ADK modulates physiological processes including neuronal activity, immune response, and energy metabolism in mice. Critical for maintaining purine homeostasis and preventing adenosine-induced cytotoxicity, its dysregulation associates with epilepsy, inflammation, and metabolic disorders. As a central regulator of purinergic signaling networks, mouse ADK is a critical target for studying neurobiology, inflammatory pathologies, and enzyme-targeted therapeutic development.
