Target Information
Mouse heat-shock protein beta 2 (HSPB2, also called MKBP) is an ATP-independent molecular chaperone that selectively binds unfolded or partially denatured proteins, preventing their aggregation during stress. Constitutively expressed in skeletal and cardiac muscle, it targets myosin and mitochondrial enzymes, stabilizing them against heat, hypoxia or oxidative damage. Its small alpha-crystallin domain provides a hydrophobic docking surface that sequesters misfolded clients until refolding systems restore their native state. This muscle-restricted, stress-inducible profile makes HSPB2 an ideal antigen for antibody generation, enabling specific detection of early proteotoxic stress without cross-reactivity to ubiquitous HSP70 family members.
