Target Information

Bone morphogenetic protein 1 (BMP1) is a metalloprotease essential for regulating the extracellular matrix (ECM) by processing precursor proteins into mature enzymes or structural proteins. It is involved in several developmental and physiological processes, including cartilage and bone formation, muscle growth and maintenance, wound healing, and tissue repair. In mice, BMP1 primarily focuses on bone formation, extracellular matrix assembly, and embryonic development regulation. It plays a multifaceted role by activating related signaling pathways through the cleavage of TGFβ ligands. In mouse embryos, BMP1 contributes to the formation and differentiation of various tissues through its metalloproteinase activity.
