Target Information
Cartilage Intermediate Layer Protein 1 (CILP1), also known as cell surface-associated mucin 15, is a novel mediator involved in cardiac extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. Cartilage Intermediate Layer Protein 1 is encoded by the CILP gene in pigs. CILP1 was identified as a novel cardiac matricellular protein that interferes with pro-fibrotic TGFβ signaling and as a novel sensitive marker of cardiac fibrosis.
