Target Information
Myotrophin facilitates the dimerization of NF-kappa-B subunits and regulates the activity of the NF-kappa-B transcription factor. It encourages the growth of cardiomyocytes without promoting their proliferation and leads to cardiac muscle hypertrophy. In transgenic mouse models, overexpression of myotrophin results in cardiac hypertrophy, ultimately progressing to heart failure. This cardiac hypertrophy is linked to the upregulation of various genes, including oncogenes, cardiac hypertrophy marker genes, growth factors, and cytokines. Additionally, myotrophin promotes cardiac hypertrophy by activating the NF-κB signaling pathway.
