Target Information
β-Endorphin is an endogenous opioid peptide with a variety of physiological functions and mechanisms. It is a powerful anti-nociceptive agent, and when directly injected into the mouse brain, it can significantly reduce pain responses. Additionally, β-Endorphin can enhance the cytotoxic activity of natural killer (NK) cells in a dose-dependent manner, correlated with its concentration. Beyond these effects, β-Endorphin plays a role in other physiological processes, such as regulating reproductive function by inhibiting the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (LHRH) from the pituitary gland, and it may also be involved in glucose metabolism regulation in the pancreas.
