Target Information
Leukotriene A-4 hydrolase (LTA4H) is a bifunctional zinc metalloenzyme that exhibits both epoxide hydrolase (EH) and aminopeptidase activities. As an epoxide hydrolase, it catalyzes the conversion of leukotriene A4 (LTA4) into leukotriene B4 (LTB4), a potent pro-inflammatory mediator. In mice, LTA4H plays critical roles in regulating inflammatory responses, energy metabolism, and immune function, making it a key target for research into inflammatory diseases, metabolic disorders, and immune regulation. In disease models such as acute lung injury and osteoarthritis, inhibition or genetic deletion of LTA4H has been shown to reduce inflammatory responses and mitigate tissue damage. For instance, in osteoarthritis models, LTA4H inhibition has been found to decrease cartilage degradation and synovial inflammation, highlighting its therapeutic potential.
