Target Information

In rabbits, the NOS2 gene encodes inducible nitric oxide synthase, an enzyme responsible for producing nitric oxide (NO), a versatile messenger molecule with various physiological functions. In macrophages, nitric oxide plays a critical role in mediating actions against tumors and bacteria. In cultured rabbit corneal stromal cells, the expression of NOS2 is enhanced by the presence of IFN-gamma, IL-1beta, and TNF-alpha. NOS2 plays a significant role in rabbit immune responses and inflammatory diseases, making it a potential focus of research in various areas, particularly infectious and inflammatory diseases.
