Target Information
Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) forms a receptor signaling complex with TYROBP, which facilitates signaling and cell activation upon ligand binding. TREM2 supports the anti-inflammatory response in microglia via the DAP12 signaling pathway. Research has shown that TREM2 can suppress the production of pro-inflammatory factors in macrophages induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), yeast polysaccharide (CpG), and similar agents. In a mouse brain injury model, TREM2 overexpression has been found to diminish inflammatory responses and alleviate neurological dysfunction. During mouse brain development, a deficiency in TREM2 leads to a reduced number of synapses and may result in behavioral phenotypes resembling autism.
