Target Information
The B- and T-lymphocyte attenuator is an inhibitory receptor on lymphocytes that negatively regulates antigen receptor signaling through PTPN6/SHP-1 and PTPN11/SHP-2. It can interact either in cis (on the same cell) or in trans (on other cells) with TNFRSF14. In mice, this receptor is encoded by the BTLA gene. BTLA exhibits a wide range of immune regulatory functions in mouse models, involving a variety of pathological processes such as autoimmunity, infection, tumors and inflammation. Its potential as a therapeutic target is gradually being revealed, but its complex regulatory mechanism still needs further research.
