Target Information
NF-kappa-B is a versatile transcription factor found in nearly all cell types and acts as the endpoint of numerous signal transduction pathways triggered by a wide range of stimuli. These pathways are essential to various biological processes, including inflammation, immunity, differentiation, cell growth, tumorigenesis, and apoptosis. NF-kappa-B forms a homo- or heterodimeric complex consisting of Rel-like domain-containing proteins such as RELA/p65, RELB, NFKB1/p105, NFKB1/p50, REL, and NFKB2/p52, with the p65-p50 heterodimer being the most abundant. In mice, NF-κB p105 primarily regulates immune and inflammatory responses through its degradation product, p50, and also plays a critical role in neural development, anti-infection defense, and other biological processes. In Alzheimer's disease models, phosphorylation of NF-κB p105 at the S932 site is significantly increased, promoting early differentiation of neural stem cells and reducing apoptosis in neural progenitor cells.
