Target Information
The IFN-α proteins are primarily produced by plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) and play a key role in innate immunity against viral infections. Their synthesis is governed by genes that exist in 13 subtypes. In rabbits, the multigene family of IFN-alpha (RbIFN-alpha) is located on chromosome 1, comprising seven functional genes within the type I IFN locus. The functions of IFN-α in rabbits are mainly reflected in antiviral, immunomodulation, and cell signaling. These functions are not only crucial for the rabbit's own immune defense, but also provide important references for the study of immune mechanisms in humans and other animals.
