Rat Cystatin B is a small cytoplasmic inhibitor of cysteine proteases, including cathepsins. Cystatin B stabilizes lysosomal enzymes and contributes to cellular homeostasis. Its loss or dysfunction is linked to oxidative stress and neurodegeneration.
