Target Information

Mouse TATA-binding protein (TBP) is a 38 kDa saddle-shaped general transcription factor whose concave surface grips the TATA box while a convex basic patch docks TFIIA and TFIIB. A solvent-exposed 16-residue "PQP" loop (aa 170-185) between β-strands 4 and 5 adopts a conformation unique among TBP family members, presenting a fixation-stable epitope preserved across initiation complexes. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native TBP in nuclear speckles, oocyte nucleoli, and cultured cell extracts, delivering crisp punctate staining and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to TBP-related factors.
