Target Information

Mouse synapsin I (SYN1) is a 76-kDa phosphoprotein exclusively expressed in murine presynaptic terminals of the central and peripheral nervous systems. It interacts with synaptic vesicles and cytoskeletal actin, regulating vesicle trafficking, docking, and neurotransmitter release-key processes for synaptic transmission and plasticity. Critical for murine neural development, learning, and memory formation, it modulates synaptic strength and network connectivity. Dysregulated phosphorylation or expression associates with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder), neurodegeneration, and synaptic dysfunction in mouse models. As a central mediator of presynaptic function and neural circuit integrity, mouse SYN1 is a critical target for studying synaptic pathobiology and developing therapeutics for neurological disorders.
