Target Information

Mouse vascular endothelial growth factor 121 (VEGF-121) is a 28 kDa soluble splice variant whose receptor-binding loops engage VEGFR-2 and neuropilin-1, driving endothelial proliferation and migration. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" surface (aa 89-102) between β-strands 5 and 6 folds into a β-hairpin unique among mouse VEGF isoforms, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after heparin dissociation and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native VEGF-121 in ovarian follicles, cardiac myocardium, and tumor stroma, delivering crisp extracellular deposition and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to VEGF-164 or VEGF-188.
