Target Information
Mouse cluster of differentiation 109 (CD109) is a 170 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein whose N-terminal sushi and EGF-like domains project from the plasma membrane to engage TGF-β co-receptors, sequestering latent ligand and tempering Smad activation. A solvent-exposed 20-residue "RSR" stalk (aa 550-569) links the second MACPF domain to the GPI signal, presenting a conformational epitope unique among the α2-macroglobulin family. Affinity-purified antibodies directed against this stalk trace native CD109 on activated platelets, keratinocyte desmosomes, and serum-derived microvesicles, delivering crisp surface rims and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to CD47 or other GPI-anchored proteins.
