Target Information
Mouse macrophage-stimulating protein (MSP) is a serum glycoprotein secreted by hepatocytes; after cleavage by tissue proteases it becomes the active ligand for the receptor tyrosine kinase RON. MSP-RON signaling promotes macrophage chemotaxis, epithelial scattering and wound repair. Constitutive plasma levels and rapid injury-induced activation make MSP a useful marker for innate immune recruitment. Antibodies specific for the mouse protein give clean western and ELISA signals without cross-reaction to human MSP, enabling accurate measurement of inflammatory and fibrotic responses.
