Specifications
Target Information
Guinea-pig interferon alpha is a 19 kDa secreted cytokine whose five α-helices bundle into an acid-stable interferon fold engaging the IFNAR1/2 receptor complex. A solvent-exposed 12-residue "QEK" loop (aa 30-41) between helix A and B carries a guinea-pig-specific glycine insertion, presenting a strain-unique epitope preserved after glycosylation and fixation. Antibodies raised against this loop trace native IFN-α in splenic red pulp, bronchoalveolar lavage, and serum, yielding crisp cytoplasmic puncta and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to guinea-pig IFN-β or other interferon subtypes.

This product is shipped with wet ice packs. Store at -20°C on receipt (up to 12 months). Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody.
