Target Information
Rat fucosidase alpha L1, tissue (FUCA1) is a lysosomal glycosidase that hydrolyzes terminal α-L-fucose from glycoproteins and glycolipids. It targets these fucosylated substrates during normal turnover, maintaining glycoconjugate homeostasis. FUCA1 activity is highest in liver, kidney and spleen, reflecting constant glycoprotein recycling. Loss of activity leads to fucoside accumulation. Its selective cleavage of α-fucose linkages makes FUCA1 an ideal antigen for antibody generation, enabling specific detection in histology and lysosomal function assays without cross-reactivity to other glycosidases.
