Rabbit Anti-Rat Polymeric Immunoglobulin Receptor (PIGR) Polyclonal Antibody
Product Overview
BioVenic rabbit polyclonal antibody is specific for rat polymeric immunoglobulin receptor. It is purified by protein A. It can be applied to WB, IHC, ICC and IP assays of rat polymeric immunoglobulin receptor.
Specifications
Target Information
Rat polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (pIgR) is an 85 kDa type-I transmembrane glycoprotein whose five Ig-like domains bind J-chain-linked IgA and IgM at basolateral surfaces, then undergo cleavage to release secretory component into mucosal fluids. A solvent-exposed 15-aa "KVE" loop (aa 380-394) between domains 4 and 5 folds into a β-hairpin unique among rat Ig superfamily members, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after cleavage and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native pIgR in bile duct epithelium, bronchial glands, and colonic crypts, delivering crisp apical membranes and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to free secretory component or other Ig receptors.
