Target Information

Hemoglobin (Hb) is one of the most studied proteins because of its central role in physiology and its alteration in hemoglobinopathies. The primary function of Hb is to transport oxygen in the circulation. It also helps transport carbon dioxide (a waste product) from tissues back to the lungs for exhalation. The β-globin chain (HBB) is the predominantly expressed β-globin in adults.
