Target Information
Platelet factor 4 is a chemokine released during platelet aggregation that influences various biological processes, such as hematopoiesis, cell proliferation, differentiation, and activation. It operates through several functional receptors, including CCR1, CXCR3A, and CXCR3B. When interacting with the CXCR3A receptor, it promotes the migration of activated T-lymphocytes through the downstream Ras/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway. Research has shown that this platelet-specific protein is synthesized in rabbit megakaryocytes before being stored in alpha-granules for subsequent release in circulating platelets.
