Target Information
Bovine Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase 1 is encoded by the MAPK1 gene in cattle. It is a member of the highly conserved mammalian mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) family, which is involved in a variety of physiological phenomena such as regeneration, development, cell proliferation and differentiation. The first MAPK to be discovered was ERK1 (MAPK3) in mammals. MAPK1 (ERK2) and ERK1 are both involved in growth factor signaling, which led to the family being termed "mitogen-activated."
