Target Information

Fibroblast growth factor 6 (FGF6) plays a crucial role in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, angiogenesis, and myogenesis, and is necessary for normal muscle regeneration. In mice, FGF6's effects are primarily observed in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. In skeletal muscle, FGF6 expression is linked to muscle development, although its impact on regeneration is limited. In adipose tissue, FGF6 regulates UCP1 expression via the PGE2 signaling pathway, potentially influencing adipocyte differentiation and their thermogenic capacity. Additionally, both FGF6 and FGF9 can inhibit adipocyte differentiation while enhancing the thermogenic potential of adipocyte precursor cells.
