Target Information
Mouse trefoil factor 1 (TFF1) is a 7 kDa secreted peptide whose three-disulfide trefoil domain folds into a rigid β-sheet hairpin that slots onto gastric mucin MUC5AC, stabilizing the surface mucous gel. A solvent-exposed "PSTG" loop (aa 30-39) projects a tyrosine handle unique among TFF paralogs, offering a conformational epitope preserved after reduction and fixation. Polyclonal antibodies targeting this loop trace native TFF1 in stomach surface epithelium, Brunner glands, and serum, yielding crisp apical granules and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to TFF2 or TFF3.
