Target Information
Rat Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling 2 (SOCS2) is a negative regulator of JAK/STAT signaling induced by growth hormone, IL-2, and IGF-1. It binds phosphorylated receptors to block STAT activation and targets signaling proteins for proteasomal degradation via its SH2 domain and SOCS-box motif. Expressed in liver, growth plate, and immune tissues, SOCS2 fine-tunes cell proliferation, body growth, and immune homeostasis. As a key feedback modulator of cytokine action, SOCS2 is an important target for studies of growth disorders, inflammation, and metabolic regulation.
