Target Information

Rat Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 Ligand 2 (PD-L2) is a trans-membrane glycoprotein that binds PD-1 on T cells, delivering an inhibitory signal that restrains activation, cytokine release, and proliferation. It is constitutively expressed on dendritic cells, macrophages, and selected epithelia, and is rapidly up-regulated by inflammatory stimuli. PD-L2 thus modulates immune thresholds, preventing excessive tissue damage while permitting pathogen clearance. Antibodies to rat PD-L2 enable precise detection of inhibitory ligand density and functional analysis of PD-1 checkpoint regulation in rat transplantation, autoimmunity, and injury models.
