ADAM metallopeptidase domain 9 is encoded by the ADAM9 gene in pigs. It has been reported that the structurally related 14,15-epoxyeicosatrienoyl stimulates release of soluble heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor as an EGFR ligand by activation of ADAM9.
