Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) is a DNA clamp that plays a crucial role in DNA replication and associated processes. The chicken PCNA gene encodes for Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen, which has been detected in the nuclei of yeast, plant, and animal cells that undergo cell division. PCNA forms a homotrimer and acts as a processivity factor for DNA polymerase δ in eukaryotic cells.
