Target Information

Zinc-alpha-2-glycoprotein promotes lipid degradation in adipocytes and is linked to the significant fat loss seen in some advanced cancers. In mice, knocking out or inhibiting AZGP1 results in lipid metabolism disorders, such as reduced fatty acid β-oxidation and increased lipid accumulation. Conversely, overexpressing AZGP1 can alleviate these pathological changes, underscoring its protective role in lipid metabolism. In the hypothalamus of mice, AZGP1 influences energy metabolism and appetite by modulating the leptin-STAT3 signaling pathway. Research has shown that AZGP1 overexpression can mitigate obesity-like symptoms and metabolic dysfunction while enhancing insulin sensitivity and energy expenditure.
