Target Information

Protein c-Fos is a nuclear phosphoprotein that forms a tight, non-covalent complex with the JUN/AP-1 transcription factor. Upon TGF-beta activation, it associates with a multimeric complex comprising SMAD3/SMAD4/JUN/FOS at the AP1/SMAD-binding site to regulate TGF-beta-mediated signaling. In mice, c-Fos protein plays a multifaceted role, contributing to normal immune system function, neural regulation, and metabolic responses. Notably, c-Fos deficiency does not significantly impact the development of the spleen and thymus, with T cell and B cell expression patterns resembling those of wild-type mice.
