Target Information
Bovine apolipoprotein C-IV is encoded by the APOC4 gene in cattle. It is a member of the APO family, which is synthesised primarily in enterocytes of the small intestine. It is expressed in the liver and has a predicted protein structure characteristic of the other genes in this family. APOC4 plays a role in lipid metabolism and polymorphisms in this gene may influence circulating lipid levels and may be associated with the risk of coronary heart disease.
