Target Information

Thioredoxin-interacting protein may mediate oxidative stress by either inhibiting thioredoxin activity or restricting its bioavailability. It interacts with COPS5 to counteract the COPS5-induced suppression of CDKN1B stability, preventing the COPS5-mediated transfer of CDKN1B from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. Txnip (thioredoxin) is a protein found in various tissues that primarily controls the redox state of cells through its interaction with thioredoxin (Trx). In mice, the roles and mechanisms of Txnip have been thoroughly researched, revealing its involvement in metabolic regulation, insulin sensitivity, adipogenesis, myocardial function, diabetic pathology, and neurodegenerative diseases.
