Target Information
C-peptide is a byproduct formed during the production and release of insulin in the body. It links insulin's A-chain to its B-chain within the proinsulin molecule. In horses, measuring plasma C-peptide concentrations can be used to evaluate pancreatic insulin secretion. In humans and other mammals, C peptides are considered to have certain biological activities. C peptides can be detected in urine by immunoassays, and their secretion is closely related to the function of pancreatic beta cells. In addition, the circulation of C peptide in the blood has also been studied, indicating that it may have certain transportation or regulatory functions in the body.
