Mouse Methylenetetrahydrofolate Dehydrogenase 1 (MTHFD1) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Methylenetetrahydrofolate Dehydrogenase 1 (MTHFD1) is a crucial enzyme in the folate-mediated one-carbon metabolism pathway. It is a trifunctional enzyme with three specific functions: 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase, 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate cyclohydrolase, and 10-formyltetrahydrofolate synthetase. Together, these activities facilitate the conversion of methyltetrahydrofolate to 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate, which is essential in the thymine nucleotide (dTMP) synthesis. In mice, the absence of MTHFD1 disrupts one-carbon metabolism, impairing DNA synthesis and repair. Knockout of the MTHFD1 gene, such as in Mthfd1(gt/+) mice, leads to metabolic imbalances characterized by elevated serum homocysteine and cysteine levels and reduced methionine and cystathionine levels. Moreover, arsenic poisoning targets MTHFD1 through mechanisms such as SUMOylation and ubiquitination degradation.
