Target Information
Antibacterial Protein LL-37 is a peptide known for its broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Its primary antibacterial mechanism involves the destruction of bacterial cell membranes, leading to bacterial death. Additionally, LL-37 can neutralize endotoxins, such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS), thereby reducing the inflammatory response induced by bacterial infections. In a mouse colon perforation (CLP) sepsis model, LL-37 notably increased the levels of antimicrobial exosomes released by neutrophils, which possess bactericidal properties and help further reduce the bacterial load in the blood and peritoneal fluid.
