Target Information
Bone sialoprotein is the second major sialoprotein of bone. It is also referred to as bone sialoprotein-2 or integrin-binding sialoprotein. Bone Sialoprotein 2 is encoded by the IBSP gene in pigs. It is a multifunctional extracellular matrix protein found in bone, cementum and dentin. Accumulating evidence supports IBSP as a key regulator of mineralized tissue formation via evolutionarily conserved functional domains, including a C-terminal integrin-binding Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) domain involved in extracellular matrix-cell signaling.
