Target Information
SUMO1-activating enzyme subunit 1 (SAE1) is a critical component involved in a fascinating cellular process called SUMOylation. SUMOylation is a post-translational modification where small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) proteins are attached to target proteins. Bovine SUMO-Activating Enzyme Subunit 1 is encoded by the SAE1 gene in cattle. It has been previously associated with dairy cow mammary gland epithelial cells. This gene may play an important role in the expression of lactation in mammalian species.
